Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Bobby Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeremy Cornish! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cornish's waist but Cornish gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brown off to one side. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cornish. Brown throws a sloppy head kick and Cornish counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Brown tries to roll over but Cornish keeps him under control. Brown looking for submissions off his back. Brown looking for submissions off his back. Cornish looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cornish lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Brown is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cornish pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cornish is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cornish. Brown looking for subs from the bottom but Cornish mounts him! Cornish pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Brown is bucking up trying to escape but Cornish cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Brown is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Cornish trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cornish is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown shrugs it off. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Brown is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cornish tries to control but Brown wriggling away. Brown is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Brown slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Brown manages to get to full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cornish trying to control but Brown is working from the bottom. Brown has an active guard here but Cornish has managed to pass into half guard.
Cornish moves nicely into side control. Brown is looking to regain half guard here but Cornish keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Brown is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cornish pulls his head out easily. Cornish trying to pass the guard but Brown defending well. Brown looking for submissions off his back. Brown gets back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cornish forces his way into half guard. Brown looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Brown looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cornish is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cornish. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Brown is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Brown is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cornish is aware though and is defending well. Brown is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Brown is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cornish pulls his head out easily. Cornish is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cornish is looking to advance position but Brown won't allow it. Brown looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Cornish pushes past his half guard into mount! Brown is looking to get to half guard. Cornish can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape. Cornish looking to secure an arm triangle but Brown defends it well. Cornish working for a submission but Brown is keeping him at bay. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Brown is trying to escape the mount.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Brown is working hard here to advance position. Cornish is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. That's eight minutes gone in the round. Brown is trying desperately to improve position. Cornish landing strikes, looking to finish! Cornish has hold of Brown's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Brown manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brown is wriggling around trying to escape.
Brown bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Cornish pulls Brown in close to his closed guard and prevents Brown from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cornish swivels though and keeps the full guard. Brown drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cornish dives on top into guard. Cornish wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Brown keeping moving, preventing Cornish from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cornish can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cornish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brown is keeping the position for now.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jeremy Cornish. I think Cornish has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
