PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Walters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maciek Lubicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Walters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maciek Lubicz!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walters shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lubicz napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Walters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Walters advances to full mount.
Lubicz is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Walters is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lubicz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Walters prevents Lubicz from getting the reversal.

Walters stands up from mount. Strange move.
Walters closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Walters gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lubicz tries to improve position but can't.

Walters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lubicz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Walters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Lubicz is not content to let Walters control the position.

Walters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Walters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lubicz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Walters.
Lubicz is looking for a sweep.
Walters landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Lubicz looks gassed!

Walters decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lubicz to his feet.

Walters shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walters showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walters is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walters takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Walters is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Walters stops Lubicz from getting back to his feet.

Walters is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Walters frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Walters will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walters sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Walters moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lubicz has worked his arm free - good work by Lubicz!

Walters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lubicz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Walters goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lubicz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Walters's guard! Nice work there by Lubicz!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Walters dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lubicz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Walters counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Walters.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lubicz.
Lubicz can't get the takedown.

Walters pulls guard.

Walters has his foot on Lubicz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lubicz works his way back into a safe position though.

Walters is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Walters is looking to sinch up a triangle. Lubicz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Walters's body to avoid the submission. Walters has instead reached around Lubicz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Walters arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Johnny Walters!
