Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricardo Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Esposito! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Esposito tries to sprawl but Brown drives through with a takedown into half guard. Esposito won't allow Brown to pass to mount. Esposito tries to get to full guard but Brown has control of the leg. Brown looks to land a strike but Esposito avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Brown throws a big right hand that misses. Brown stops Esposito from standing up. Brown wants to control from the top but Esposito keeps moving. Esposito avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Esposito can do anything to dispel that myth. Esposito is looking to stand up but Brown isn't so interested in that idea. Brown working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Esposito wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Esposito avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Esposito keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully. Brown throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Brown postures up in Esposito's guard and throws a big left but Esposito blocks it. Esposito trying to keep a closed guard but Brown is proving a slippery customer.
Brown missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Esposito is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Esposito utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esposito is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Esposito controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself. Brown throws a big right hand that misses. Esposito wants to stand up but Brown is controlling him. Brown trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Esposito trying to control the position.
Esposito wants to stand and escape but Brown is having none of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. John Esposito was stalling too much, according to the referee. Esposito takes a swing at Brown's ribcage but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Esposito misses the target. A big right from Brown misses. Esposito throws a hook but Brown blocks it. Esposito loads up on a big right hand but Brown slips the punch. Brown displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Esposito throws out the jab. Esposito thows a body shot but no joy. Brown lands with a cross. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Esposito slips a straight right by Brown. Brown slips under a jab. Esposito ducks under a wild hook from Brown. Esposito on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Esposito, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Esposito against the cage but Esposito circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Brown shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Brown loads up on a big right hand but Esposito slips the punch. Esposito scores with a jab. Brown fails to land the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice uppercut there from Brown. Brown misses with a looping left. Esposito throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Esposito avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Esposito lands a body shot.
Esposito bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Brown takes a shot right to the bread basket. Brown misses with a jab, cross combination.

Brown stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The fighters circling - Esposito throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Brown takes a jab right on the kisser.
Esposito feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Browns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Esposito cracks Brown with a good jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Esposito dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Sloppy strikes from Brown. Those never looked like landing. Brown closes the distance and clinches. Esposito's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. John Esposito seems to be getting the better of the standup. Brown avoids the body shot from Esposito.
Esposito loads up on a big right hand but Brown slips the punch. Brown moves away from the strike by Esposito. Brown avoids a punch combination nicely.
Brown throws a shot from downtown. Esposito moves away and avoids it. Esposito throws a lazy right hand but Brown sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Esposito misses with a double jab.
Esposito slips a jab from Brown. Esposito throws a good cross that connects.
Esposito takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Brown shoots for a double leg takedown but Esposito sprawls well. He's pushed Brown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Brown throws a series of punches but Esposito moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Esposito slips a jab and a cross from Brown.
Esposito takes one on the button. Brown swinging wildly here.
Brown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Esposito throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brown sees it coming and avoids it easily. Esposito throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Brown throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Esposito was covering up waiting for the punch and Brown finishes the takedown easily into guard. Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Esposito works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Esposito is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esposito is defending well against a takedown attempt. Brown has a couple of punches blocked by Esposito.
Brown tries to land a knee to the head but Esposito blocks with his arms.
Esposito slows down the pace here.
Esposito has had enough of the clinch but Brown keeps him there for the moment. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Esposito. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Brown stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Brown wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Both fighters working to control the clinch. Brown gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Esposito regains guard.

Esposito utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Esposito is trying to keep Brown in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Brown slips under a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Brown. Esposito does a little dance to reset his feet. Esposito misses the jab. Esposito missing with a left hand there. Brown was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nice cross by Esposito. Brown misses with the combination.
Esposito uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brown. Esposito bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A jab from Esposito misses. Esposito checks a low kick from Brown. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brown pushes Esposito up against the cage in a clinch. Brown keeps control of Esposito as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Esposito on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brown tries to score a body lock takedown but Esposito shows good agility there to stay on his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Brown dominated that second round. That's time! Brown's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
A big right from Esposito misses. Esposito digs a good body shot into Brown's ribs. No joy there for Esposito, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Esposito cracks Brown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Brown loads up on a big right hand but Esposito slips the punch. Esposito misses with the combination.
Esposito connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Brown's hands. Brown walks into a left hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Esposito wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Esposito showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Brown.
Brown misses the shot to the body. Esposito dips to his left and cracks Brown with an uppercut! Esposito slips a straight right by Brown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown tries a low kick but Esposito avoids it. Brown ducks under a wild hook from Esposito. Esposito moves out of range of the leg kick from Brown. Esposito scores with a decent looking hook. Esposito misses with a looping left. Brown swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
John Esposito is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Esposito slips under a jab from Brown. Brown scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Brown throws a looping overhand right but Esposito ducks down to avoid it. Ricardo Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brown throws a shot from downtown. Esposito moves away and avoids it. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Esposito, as that shot connected.
Brown takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Esposito lands a big uppercut and Brown crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Brown looks OK. Esposito waves Brown back to his feet!
Brown is rocked!
It looks like Ricardo Brown has been cut. Esposito throws a shot from downtown. Brown moves away and avoids it. Oh Brown is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Esposito fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Brown seems to have got his legs back now. Esposito drops Brown with a huge uppercut! Brown drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Esposito is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Esposito! John Esposito opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
