Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dante Fertit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Morton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fertit comes to the cage accompanied by Roots Bloody Roots. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dante Fertit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Morton!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morton closes the distance but Fertit moves to the side

and Fertit counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Still in half guard, Fertit seems content to control.

Fertit is trying to work for a kimura but Morton is defending well.
Fertit keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Fertit is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Morton sees it coming and defends easily.
Fertit thows a huge punch but Morton dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fertit is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fertit moves nicely into side control.
Fertit moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Fertit has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fertit creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Morton sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Fertit tries to move into full mount but can't pass Morton's legs.
Morton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fertit asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Morton regains half guard, as Fertit was trying to land strikes.

Fertit not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Well, if Fertit is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dante Fertit just wasn't active enough.
Fertit ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A punch combination from Fertit misses.
Morton takes a swing at Fertit's ribcage but misses.
Carl Morton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fertit shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fertit showed some decent athleticism there.
Fertit content to control rather than advance.
Fertit looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Fertit escapes and gets back to his feet.

Morton wants to clinch but Fertit slips to the side
and Fertit counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morton slaps away a takedown attempt from Fertit, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A knee to the head by Morton.


It looks like Dante Fertit has been cut.
Morton pushes off an throws an elbow but Fertit leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Fertit tries to score a body lock takedown but Morton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Morton just misses with a elbow thrown towards Fertit's brow.
Morton misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fertit.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fertit blocks the elbow strike.
Fertit avoids the elbow strike from Morton, against the cage.
Morton lands an elbow inside that Fertit shrugs off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Morton gets a clinch.
Morton pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Fertit avoids the elbow strike from Morton, against the cage.
Morton creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
With the fighters up against the cage, Morton throws an elbow but misses.
Morton misses with some punches.
Morton lands an elbow just above Fertit 's eye.
Fertit goes for a takedown attempt but Morton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Morton moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morton takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Fertit fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Morton sprawls well initially but Fertit persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fertit stalling.
Dante Fertit overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fertit not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fertit.
Morton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fertit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fertit is pressing down on Morton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Morton is holding on for now.

Fertit slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Dante Fertit has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fertit takes one to the chin there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
No luck for Fertit with that takedown attempt.

Morton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fertit swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Morton wants to improve his position but Fertit is controlling well.
Fertit tries to pass the half guard into mount. Morton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fertit moves into full mount! Morton won't be happy about that!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Fertit lands a left hand that snaps the head of Morton backwards.
Morton misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fertit.
Fertit wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Morton just misses with a elbow thrown towards Fertit's brow.

Morton lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Morton misses with some punches.
Fertit is trying to pull guard but Morton turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Morton misses with an elbow over the top.
Fertit tries to score a body lock takedown but Morton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Morton throws an elbow but misses.

Fertit turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fertit manages to end up in side control.
Fertit is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Fertit tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Fertit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Morton is trying to control Fertit's posture but Fertit avoids it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fertit looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Morton!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fertit, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
