PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alan LeFloe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haste The Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Alan LeFloe has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Alan LeFloe seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alan LeFloe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Haste The Day!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Day throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. LeFloe tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. The Day is in LeFloe's guard.
LeFloe looking to hit a scissor sweep but The Day is one step ahead there.
The Day scoring with some ground and pound.

LeFloe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Day doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Day manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

LeFloe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The Day on the ground.
LeFloe wants to sweep but no luck.

The Day is pushing down on LeFloe's leg trying to pass to half guard. LeFloe is fighting to maintain full guard but The Day has managed to sneak the leg through.

The Day has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The Day decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The Day is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The Day slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The Day tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
LeFloe tries to buck The Day off but The Day is having none of it.
LeFloe can't do much from the bottom here.

The Day is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, LeFloe has escaped the position, nice work there.
LeFloe gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The Day seems to be working for a kimura but LeFloe defends the submission attempt.

The Day decides to stand and escape the position.

The Day shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches LeFloe napping and manages to drive through into side control!

LeFloe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
LeFloe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The Day closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. LeFloe did well to prevent The Day getting side control.
The Day works his way into side control.

The Day is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, LeFloe has escaped the position, nice work there.
LeFloe tries to bench press The Day off him but The Day keeps the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The Day advances to mount.

The Day is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. LeFloe can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haste The Day dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



The Day closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming LeFloe to the mat! LeFloe manages to get full guard.
The Day controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
LeFloe looking to control but The Day passes into half guard.
The Day wants to control but LeFloe is keeping him busy.
LeFloe tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The Day works his foot free and advances to mount.
The Day wants to control the pace but LeFloe is squirming around nicely.
The Day is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The Day with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

LeFloe tries to get back to half guard but can't.
LeFloe tries to lock up and control but The Day gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The Day stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Good work by The Day as he checks the leg kick.

The Day manages to get an easy takedown there - catching LeFloe on his heels. He'll look to pass LeFloe's guard now, I'm sure.
The Day wants to control from the top but LeFloe keeps moving.
LeFloe throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
LeFloe trying to keep a closed guard but The Day is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The Day prevents LeFloe from standing back up.
The Day prevents LeFloe from improving his position.
The Day is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The Day is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
LeFloe is not content to let The Day control the position.
Haste The Day has got the better of the ground game so far.
LeFloe tries to roll over but The Day keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Day is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The Day passes to side control.

The Day thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The Day stands up and we're back to a striking position.
LeFloe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Haste The Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
LeFloe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for The Day. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The Day closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming LeFloe to the mat! LeFloe manages to get full guard.

The Day stands up from LeFloe's guard - The Day perhaps looking for a knockout.
LeFloe looks to land a body kick but The Day moved away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The Day closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The Day blocks a head kick by LeFloe.

The Day scores a takedown into full mount!

The Day has control of LeFloe's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and LeFloe regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The Day working for a guillotine from mount but LeFloe is in no mood to give up.

The Day is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, LeFloe has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The Day lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The Day trying to control but he's not successful this time.
LeFloe tries to hold on but The Day pushes him away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The Day connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

The Day looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
LeFloe sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haste The Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

LeFloe is in trouble now - The Day has advanced to mount!
LeFloe tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The Day looking for a guillotine from mount but LeFloe is having none of it.

The Day wants to finish this one by submission but LeFloe is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from The Day.
This has been an exciting period of action!
LeFloe tries to reverse the position but The Day maintains control.

The Day content just to control the position here.
The Day is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. LeFloe is in real trouble.

The Day is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged LeFloe with him. LeFloe is trying to defend but The Day has an arm under the chin now! LeFloe grimaces and is forced to tap out!
