Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Voodoo Hex! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yevgeni Raduchenko! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hex moves out of range of the body kick. Raduchenko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hex's waist but Hex gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Raduchenko off to one side. Raduchenko slips under a jab from Hex. Hex looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Raduchenko has managed to clinch.
Hex breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Raduchenko looks to clinch and Hex counters with a slapping leg kick. Raduchenko gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hex avoiding damage.
Raduchenko tries to throw a body punch but Hex avoids it by throwing Raduchenko back against the cage. Hex digs a right hand underneath Raduchenko's ribcage. Raduchenko let out a lung full of air as it connected. A short right hand to the side of the head by Hex. This has been an exciting period of action! A body shot lands from Hex.
Hex blocks an uppercut.
Raduchenko jumps into guard, dragging Hex to the mat.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Raduchenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hex is aware though and is defending well. Raduchenko is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hex wants to control from the top but Raduchenko keeps moving. Hex won't allow Raduchenko to sweep him here. Hex is sitting in close to Raduchenko's body. Raduchenko has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hex is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hex is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Raduchenko.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Yevgeni Raduchenko! Yevgeni Raduchenko is the new middleweight champion! Yevgeni Raduchenko decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
