Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zag Luis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Marcos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zag Luis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Marcos!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marcos's waist but Marcos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Luis off to one side.
Marcos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marcos swinging wildly here.
Marcos closes the distance and clinches up with Luis, looking for a takedown. Marcos pushes Luis against the cage but Luis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Luis is looking to clinch.
Luis shoots for a takedown but Marcos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Marcos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Luis but Luis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zag Luis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Marcos.

Marcos gets caught napping as Luis dives in and scores a takedown. Marcos manages to retain guard.
Luis lands a couple of digs.
Marcos trying to control the position.

Marcos throws his legs up looking for a submission but Luis uses it to pass to side control.

Marcos is refusing to be controlled, as Luis sits in half guard.
Marcos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Luis is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luis is trying to control the action in half guard but Marcos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Marcos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Luis pulls his head out easily.

Luis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marcos's head.
Marcos wants to improve his position but Luis is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marcos looks like he's trying to stand up.
Luis throwing shots but Marcos is blocking nicely.
Marcos is refusing to be controlled, as Luis sits in half guard.

Luis is trying to control. Marcos wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Luis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Luis prevents Marcos from improving his position.
Luis working over Marcos with some ground and pound. Marcos looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Luis slows the pace down in half guard.
Luis trying to control the action but Marcos is working from the bottom.

Marcos avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Luis.
Marcos is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marcos can do anything to dispel that myth.
Luis is taking a breather. Marcos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Zag Luis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Marcos tries to clinch up
and Marcos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
David Marcos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Luis looks to land a combination but Marcos avoids it well.

Luis closes the distance and clinches.
Marcos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Luis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zag Luis dominated that round.
That's time! Luis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Marcos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Luis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Marcos's guard now.

Luis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marcos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Luis has managed to get both his arms back between Marcos's legs - danger averted.
Luis throws a strike but Marcos rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Luis trying to keep a closed guard but Marcos is proving a slippery customer.
Luis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Marcos manages to get himself to full guard.

Marcos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Luis controls the pace.
Luis throws an elbow that misses. Marcos uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Luis's guard. Nice move by Marcos!
Luis wants to stand and escape but Marcos is having none of it.
Marcos wants to stand but Luis is controlling his posture from full guard.
Luis wants to sweep here but Marcos controlling him for the moment.

Luis has momentary wrist control but Marcos slips an elbow through the middle.
Luis keeping moving, preventing Marcos from controlling successfully.
Luis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. David Marcos hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Luis has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Marcos is trying to keep an underhook but Luis manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Marcos is not content to let Luis control the position.
Marcos is trying to stand.
Marcos regains full guard. Nicely done.
Luis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Luis postures up and lands a big shot to Marcos's brow.
Zag Luis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marcos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Luis is one step ahead there.
Luis stops Marcos from standing up.
Marcos has momentary wrist control but Luis slips an elbow through the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marcos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Luis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Luis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marcos keeping moving, preventing Luis from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Luis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Marcos is looking to clinch but Luis is avoiding it.
Marcos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Marcos is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Luis.
Luis shoots for a double leg takedown but Marcos sprawls well. He's pushed Luis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Luis dives in and grabs Marcos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marcos pushes down on Luis's head and hops out.
Luis avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Luis shoots in looking for a takedown. Marcos tries to sprawl out of it but Luis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marcos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zag Luis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Luis shoots in but no luck this time.
Luis shoots for a takedown but Marcos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Luis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Luis tries to close the distance and clinch but Marcos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Marcos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Marcos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Luis, who protects the arm well.
Luis is looking for a sweep.

Marcos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Luis to his feet.
Luis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Marcos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Marcos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Luis is controlling Marcos's trapped leg to prevent Marcos from advancing to side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Luis wants to get back to his feet.

Luis keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Zag Luis.
Marcos throws a head kick that misses.
Marcos defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Luis.
Marcos looks to land a body kick but Luis moved away.
Luis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Luis moves in looking to clinch but Marcos pushes him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Luis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Luis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Marcos is pressing down on Luis's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Luis scoring with some ground and pound.
Luis looking to sit in guard and control but Marcos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Luis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zag Luis.
Well Luis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
