PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rob Pain had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Bob!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain tries to clinch up but Bob circles away and keeps his distance.
Bob keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bob has a takedown stuffed.

Pain closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bob to the mat! Bob manages to get full guard.

Pain gets to his feet. Bob looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pain tries for a takedown but Bob circles away easily

and Bob counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pain won't be happy with that.
Bob looks gassed!
Pain tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Pain sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain is trying to get back to full guard.
Pain trying to control but Bob postures up.
Bob is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pain keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Bob really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pain wants to improve his position but Bob is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pain makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pain.
Pain pulls Bob in close to his closed guard and prevents Bob from doing any damage or advancing position.
Pain trying to strike off his back.
Pain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pain is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bob is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pain trying to control the position.
Bob trying to control but Pain is working from the bottom.
Bob trying to move into half guard but instead Pain has managed to sweep!
Bob working a defensive guard but Pain passes into half guard.
Pain passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bob!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A nice elbow there by Pain.
Bob is looking to get to half guard.
Pain tries to control but Bob wriggling away.
Pain lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Pain dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Pain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bob.

Bob closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pain wants to get back to his feet.
Pain trying to control here.
Pain is trying is best to control the position here.
Pain has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bob is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bob is stalling here. Pain is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bob seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Pain has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Pain stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Pain throws a chopping leg kick but Bob manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Pain avoids the head kick by Bob.
Pain fails with the takedown

and Bob counters with a takedown into side control.
Check out the look on Bob's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Pain struggling a bit here.
I wouldn't like to be where Pain is right now.

Pain wants to control but Bob postures up.
Pain manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Pain perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rob Pain just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Pain misses with a hook to the body

and Bob counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pain pulls Bob in to control the position.

Pain pushes Bob off and scrambles back to his feet.
Pain fails with the takedown
and Bob counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Pain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Pain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bob shoots and misses

and Pain decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bob's guard.
Bob can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pain controls the pace.
Bob wants to sweep but no luck.
Bob trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Pain stands and throws Bob's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Pain wants to control but Bob is keeping him busy.

Bob struggling a bit here.
Pain tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain wants to control but Bob is keeping him busy.

Pain has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bob closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jordan Bob will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Pain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bob tries to keep at a distance but Pain has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bob looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pain is fending him off so far but Bob persists. Nope, Pain circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice sprawl there from Pain as Bob shoots in.
Pain tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pain throws the kick towards the body but Bob avoids it.
Pain thows a left - swing and a miss!

Pain looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bob is fending him off so far but Pain persists. Nope, Bob circles away and we're back to standing.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bob thows a big elbow that misses.
Bob throws and elbow that misses. Pain uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bob's guard. Nice move by Pain!

Pain decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Pain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pain shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Bob fails to land with a series of punches.
Bob wants to clinch.
Rob Pain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pain throws a shot from downtown. Bob moves away and avoids it.
Pain wants to clinch but Bob slips to the side
and Pain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pain swats away the attempt to clinch by Bob.
Pain throws a head kick that misses
and Bob counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Bob feints and as Pain raises his hands in defense, Bob changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pain tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pain escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bob gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pain throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Pain is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jordan Bob comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bob has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
