Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reggie Lafleur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Silva Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lafleur tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Santiago manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Santiago has his takedown stuffed
and Lafleur counters with a nice leg kick.
Santiago tries for a takedown but Lafleur circles away easily
and Lafleur counters with a series of strikes. Santiago will be more careful next time no doubt.
Santiago shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Lafleur to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Silva Santiago has been cut.
Reggie Lafleur has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silva Santiago.
Lafleur cracks Santiago with an open hand slap.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santiago shoots and misses
and Lafleur counters with a head kick that drops Santiago to the mat! Santiago scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Santiago is rocked!
Look low, kick high! Lafleur uses the oldest trick in the book to send Santiago tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Lafleur is absolutely delighted - when Santiago wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
