1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Williams! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Evans managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Williams.
Williams misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Williams is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Evans knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Williams scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Evans to see if he's OK. Williams wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy. Evans is pushing Williams's head away, looking to escape. Williams manages to hold on to the position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams throwing shots but missing, from side control. Evans defending against the ground and pound. Williams trying to control the action but Evans is working from the bottom. Williams working the ground and pound from side control. Williams wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Evans, who protects the arm well. Williams tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Williams has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Williams tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Williams wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Evans throws a head kick that half lands.
Mark Evans is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Williams takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mark Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams misses with a low kick as Evans jumps back. Evans throws a head kick that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Williams dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Evans throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Evans throws a right hand that Williams ducks under and follows up with a left that Williams also avoids with ease. Williams misses with a double jab.
Williams fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Evans. Williams dodges the punch combination from Evans.
Williams gets in close and instigates a clinch. Williams tries to break the clinch but Evans is controlling the position. Williams is trying to maintain a safe position but Evans gets an underhook and turns Williams into the cage. Williams has had enough of the clinch but Evans keeps him there for the moment. Evans keeps control of Williams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Williams tries for a takedown. No joy.
Evans prevents Williams from breaking the clinch. Evans tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Williams is trying to break free. Williams is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Evans tries to land a knee to the head but Williams blocks with his arms.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Williams stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Evans throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Williams's head. Mark Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Evans throws a head kick but Williams moves out of range.

and Williams counters with a thumping low kick. Evans fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Williams looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans drops Williams with a beautiful combination! Williams stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Evans is looking for the KO!

It looks like Ryan Williams has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Evans lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Williams crumples to the floor! Evans milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
