Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Koscheck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Brodeur!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koscheck gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Koscheck wants to sweep but no luck.

Brodeur decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Brodeur gets the takedown into side control.
Koscheck is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Koscheck is working hard here to advance position.
Koscheck is not content to let Brodeur control the position.

Brodeur has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Koscheck looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Koscheck tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brodeur sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Koscheck somewhat.

Brodeur shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Koscheck's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koscheck escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brodeur gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brodeur would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Koscheck has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brodeur can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Koscheck is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brodeur is aware though and is defending well.

Koscheck shoots in looking for a takedown but Brodeur manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Koscheck's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brodeur is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Koscheck sees it coming and defends easily.
Brodeur seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Brodeur takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Koscheck tries to roll over but Brodeur keeps him under control.

Brodeur gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Brodeur counters with a takedown into side control.

Brodeur decides to stand back up. Brodeur steps back and let's Koscheck get back to his feet.
Brodeur misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brodeur tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Koscheck paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Brodeur got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koscheck has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brodeur has managed to get both his arms back between Koscheck's legs - danger averted.
Koscheck can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brodeur controls the pace.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Brodeur stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Koscheck has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Brodeur manages to get his head free but now Koscheck has transitioned to an armbar! Brodeur grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Koscheck! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jeff Koscheck!
A very excited looking Jeff Koscheck made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
