Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anzhor Azhiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Slarppa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anzhor Azhiev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Slarppa! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slarppa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Azhiev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Slarppa counters by moving into the clinch. Azhiev fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Azhiev is looking to take this one to the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anzhor Azhiev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slarppa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Azhiev drops back, looking for a kneebar! Slarppa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Slarppa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Slarppa! Slarppa working away. Azhiev bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Slarppa has closed the distance and engaged Azhiev in a clinch.
Azhiev jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Slarppa walks away with a smile on his face. Azhiev gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Azhiev checks the leg kick nicely there.
Slarppa closes the distance and clinches up with Azhiev, looking for a takedown. Slarppa pushes Azhiev against the cage but Azhiev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slarppa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Slarppa showed some decent athleticism there. Azhiev won't allow Slarppa to pass to mount. Azhiev is pressing down on Slarppa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Slarppa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Azhiev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slarppa has managed to get both his arms back between Azhiev's legs - danger averted. Slarppa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Slarppa tries to free his leg and advance position but Azhiev is retaining full guard. Slarppa postures up in Azhiev's guard and throws a big left but Azhiev blocks it. Slarppa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Azhiev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Slarppa trying to control but Azhiev is working from the bottom. Azhiev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slarppa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slarppa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Azhiev looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Slarppa passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Azhiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slarppa pulls his head out easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Azhiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slarppa pulls his head out easily. Slarppa works his way into side control. Slarppa controlling the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. It looks like Slarppa might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slarppa has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Azhiev! Slarppa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Azhiev working to try and regain half guard.
Slarppa controlling the position easily from mount. Slarppa has control of Azhiev's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Azhiev regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slarppa looking to ground and pound but Azhiev is blocking nicely. Slarppa throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Azhiev because Slarppa loaded up on that one. Azhiev regains half guard. Azhiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slarppa pulls his head out easily. Slarppa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Azhiev to get to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Slarppa looking to score a takedown here. Azhiev is defending well but Slarppa drives through and ends up in Azhiev's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Slarppa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slarppa shoots in for a takedown but Azhiev shows good takedown defense. Azhiev with a lazy takedown attempt and Slarppa counters with a takedown into side control. Azhiev seems a little lost for a moment, as Slarppa dominates the positioning. Azhiev is looking for a sweep. Azhiev gets back to half guard. Azhiev actively working from the bottom here. Azhiev looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Azhiev is trying to maintain the position but Slarppa is very close to passing his half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Slarppa missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Azhiev is pressing down on Slarppa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Slarppa drops back for a leg! Peter Slarppa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Azhiev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Azhiev is looking to get back to full guard here but Slarppa has managed to pass to side control instead. Azhiev is letting Slarppa control him for a moment. Slarppa stands up and beckons Azhiev to his feet. Azhiev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Anzhor Azhiev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Azhiev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Slarppa misses with a low kick as Azhiev jumps back.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Slarppa lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Slarppa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Azhiev is trying to defend but Slarppa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slarppa is looking for a kimura but Azhiev is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Slarppa to get the leverage. Slarppa thows a huge punch but Azhiev dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Azhiev with a poor takedown and Slarppa makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Slarppa feints and as Azhiev raises his hands in defense, Slarppa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Slarppa looking to sit in guard and control but Azhiev gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Slarppa looking to control but Azhiev passes into half guard.
Azhiev is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Slarppa is trying to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Azhiev is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Slarppa is pressing down on Azhiev's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Slarppa wants to sweep but no luck. Slarppa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Azhiev defends well. Azhiev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Anzhor Azhiev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Peter Slarppa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Slarppa seems keen to control Azhiev's posture.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Slarppa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Slarppa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
