The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson dives in and grabs Venholt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Venholt pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out.
Nelson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Venholt!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Venholt is desperately trying to improve his position but Nelson has a good base and remains in mount.
Nelson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Venholt is trying to escape the mount.
Nelson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nelson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Venholt to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Venholt shrugs it off.
Nelson throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Venholt has his hands clasped together but Nelson breaks the hold and Venholt is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Nelson!
