PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Decklan Stroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stroy's choice of entrance music: What's Up, People ?!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Decklan Stroy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Stroy makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Daniels shoots in and drives through. Stroy sprawls well.
Decklan Stroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daniels clinches up with Stroy and pushes him back against the cage.

Daniels manages to pull guard.
Stroy wants to control from the top but Daniels keeps moving.
Daniels tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Daniels is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Stroy wants to stand and escape but instead Daniels has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stroy trying to keep a closed guard but Daniels is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stroy working a defensive guard but Daniels passes into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Daniels in particular looking to stall.
Stroy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daniels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stroy trying to control here.
Daniels prevents Stroy from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniels content to control rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stroy sprawls well. Stroy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Daniels gets slowly back to his feet.
Stroy pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Stroy darts in and clinches Daniels up against the cage.
Daniels can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Daniels. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stroy jumps guard and drags Daniels to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daniels controls from within his opponent's guard.
Daniels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stroy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Daniels advances position into side control!
Daniels scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Stroy to see if he's OK.
Stroy is trying to escape the position but Daniels is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stroy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Daniels looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Stroy is avoiding damage well.
Daniels lands some shots froms side control.
Stroy is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Daniels is controlling him well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Daniels dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Stroy moves out of range of the body kick.

Daniels pushes Stroy up against the cage in a clinch.
Stroy is looking to control Daniels's arms but Daniels gets an underhook and turns him. Now Stroy has his back to the cage.
Daniels is trying to pull guard but Stroy has him pressed against the cage.

Stroy tightens his grip and picks Daniels up, before dumping him to the ground. Daniels manages to land in guard.

Daniels looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Stroy is defending well. Daniels quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Stroy has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Daniels celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jay Daniels!
