Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Kalle Kinkeri! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bon Kenneth Fitzgibbon! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinkeri lands a nice looking body shot.
Fitzgibbon misses with a head kick.
Nice jab there from Fitzgibbon. Fitzgibbon keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Fitzgibbon looks to land a right hand but Kinkeri moved out of range. Fitzgibbon slips a jab and a cross from Kinkeri.
Fitzgibbon fails with a takedown attempt. Fitzgibbon takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kinkeri swings for the body but Fitzgibbon moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action! Fitzgibbon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kinkeri. Fitzgibbon ducks under a wild hook from Kinkeri. A jab from Fitzgibbon does it's job there. A big right from Kinkeri misses. Kinkeri thows a body shot but no joy. Fitzgibbon avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Kinkeri connects with a single shot there. Kinkeri misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fitzgibbon connects with a crisp jab. Fitzgibbon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fitzgibbon throws a shot to the body.
Kinkeri ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fitzgibbon moves away. Fitzgibbon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kinkeri's guard. Fitzgibbon wants to control from the top but Kinkeri keeps moving. Fitzgibbon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kinkeri swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fitzgibbon trying to control but Kinkeri is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kinkeri manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fitzgibbon manages to get himself to full guard.
Kinkeri has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kinkeri has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Fitzgibbon to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kinkeri is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Fitzgibbon pulls down on the head and he's put Kinkeri to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bon Kenneth Fitzgibbon! Bon Kenneth Fitzgibbon retains his middleweight title!
