The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markman gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Markman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Basilan sprawls well. Basilan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Markman gets slowly back to his feet.

Markman shoots in looking for a takedown. Basilan tries to sprawl out of it but Markman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Basilan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Basilan throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Basilan cracks Markman with an open hand slap.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Basilan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
It looks like Rory Markman has been cut.

Basilan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Markman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Basilan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Markman is rocked!
Markman gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Basilan gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Markman is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
