Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Calgary Alberta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urijah Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samuel has chosen Knock Yourself Out as his entrance music. Urijah Samuel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Calgary Alberta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Urijah Samuel! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice body punch from Alberta. Samuel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Alberta leaves Samuel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Samuel misses with a takedown attempt - Alberta sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Alberta shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alberta showed some decent athleticism there. Alberta is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Alberta is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Samuel has managed to free his arm - good work. Samuel is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alberta missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Samuel trying to control but Alberta postures up.

The fighters are battling for position here. Samuel manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Samuel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alberta! Alberta is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Samuel is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Alberta can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Alberta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Samuel on the ground. Samuel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Alberta has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Samuel goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Alberta rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Samuel's guard! Nice work there by Alberta! Alberta postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Samuel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alberta, into his guard. Samuel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alberta is trying to control the position but Samuel postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Urijah Samuel will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Samuel fails with the takedown. Alberta drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Samuel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alberta manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Samuel drops back looking for a leg! Alberta is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alberta manages to kick Samuel off! Samuel jumps back into Alberta's guard. Samuel is fighting to break Alberta's control of his arms but Alberta is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Samuel passes Alberta's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Samuel trying to work for an americana but Alberta has managed to regain full guard.
Alberta pulls Samuel in close to prevent any damage.

Samuel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alberta manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Samuel has Alberta in his guard. Alberta trying to control but Samuel is working from the bottom. Alberta landing some decent shots from guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alberta looking to sit in guard and control but Samuel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Samuel is pushing down on Alberta's leg trying to pass to half guard. Alberta is fighting to maintain full guard but Samuel has managed to sneak the leg through. Alberta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samuel is working away from the top position though. Samuel seems to be looking for submissions.

Calgary Alberta overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alberta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Samuel is one step ahead there. Samuel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Alberta wants to sweep here but Samuel controlling him for the moment. Samuel drops back looking for a leg! Alberta is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alberta manages to kick Samuel off! Samuel jumps back into Alberta's guard. Samuel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alberta has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Samuel has managed to get both his arms back between Alberta's legs - danger averted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alberta looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Samuel passes into side control.
Samuel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Samuel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alberta knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Samuel swings around for an armbar but Alberta sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Samuel's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Calgary Alberta will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Alberta moves in looking to clinch but Samuel pushes him off. Samuel shoots in looking for a takedown. Alberta tries to sprawl out of it but Samuel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alberta manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Samuel misses with a takedown attempt and Alberta counters with a nice body shot. No luck with that takedown attempt from Alberta. Samuel drops his hands momentarily and Alberta takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Samuel fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Calgary Alberta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Urijah Samuel. Samuel shoots and misses and Alberta counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Samuel with a poor takedown and Alberta counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Samuel thinking. Alberta stuffs the takedown attempt from Samuel. Samuel gets slowly back to his feet. Alberta gets a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alberta prevents the takedown attempt.

Samuel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alberta scores a takedown into full mount! Alberta stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Alberta defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Samuel. Samuel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alberta sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Alberta stuffs the takedown. Alberta has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alberta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Alberta feints and as Samuel raises his hands in defense, Alberta changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alberta is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Alberta lands a couple of elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Samuel manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Alberta tries to reverse the position but Samuel maintains control. Samuel is working for a guillotine from mount but Alberta frees his head quite easily.
Alberta tries to get back to half guard but can't. Samuel is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Alberta to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alberta shrugs it off. Alberta tries to lock up and control but Samuel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alberta is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Samuel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. What's Alberta going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
And that's the end of the fight! Calgary Alberta showed his dominance in that final round. Well Alberta has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Calgary Alberta! In his post fight interview, Calgary Alberta started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
