4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brett Appley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Appley. Appley throws a series of punches but McBain avoids them all with ease. McBain moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. McBain swinging wildly here.
Appley slips a jab and a cross from McBain.
McBain tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Appley paws at him with a jab and circles away. McBain moves out of range as Appley strikes. McBain pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Appley back to the cage. McBain follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. McBain lands a head shot. McBain defending well as Appley loads up on a big left hand. Appley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McBain moves away. McBain misses with a double jab
and Appley counters with a left to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Appley throws the left hand but McBain avoids the punch easily. Appley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McBain. Appley swings for the body but McBain moves out of range.
Appley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McBain's waist but McBain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Appley off to one side. Appley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. McBain lands a glancing blow to the side of Appley's head. McBain misses with the combination.
McBain fails in his attempt to clinch. Appley misses with a right hand and McBain counters with a nice uppercut. McBain uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Appley.

That's two minutes gone in the round. McBain tries to clinch up but Appley circles away and keeps his distance. Appley is looking to wear down McBain with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. McBain tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Appley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Appley moves out of range as McBain strikes. Appley has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brett Appley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Appley looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Appley needs to keep his hands up - McBain had a free shot at his head there. Appley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Appley takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Horrible takedown by Appley or perhaps it was just good defense by McBain which made him look bad. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A head kick from McBain lands but Appley takes it in his stride.

Appley seems to have got his legs back now. Nice uppercut lands for McBain. That snapped Appley's head back.
Appley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Appley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McBain's waist but McBain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Appley off to one side. McBain is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Appley had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. McBain fails to land with a series of punches.

Appley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McBain defends it nicely. Appley is really struggling to find his range with his punches. McBain's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Appley closes this distance looking for a takedown but McBain circles away. McBain moves away from the strike by Appley. McBain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McBain slips under a jab. McBain cracks Appley with a right hand to the side of the head. Appley punishes McBain's body with a nice straight punch. McBain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Appley manages to avoid it. Appley walks into a straight right hand from McBain. McBain jabs at Appley's body. McBain lands a jab to the head.
McBain digs a good body shot into Appley's ribs. A low kick from Appley misses and McBain counters with a left and a right that stings Appley. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McBain uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Appley. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A big left from Appley misses. McBain slips under a jab from Appley. McBain fails to land with a series of punches.

and McBain counters with a left and a right that stings Appley. Appley shoots for a double leg takedown but McBain sprawls well. He's pushed Appley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nice uppercut there from Appley. McBain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

McBain avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Appley throws a right and a left that both miss. McBain stuffs the takedown attempt from Appley. Appley gets slowly back to his feet. Appley scores with a sloppy right hand. McBain should have avoided that one. McBain might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Appley tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Appley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McBain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Appley has McBain in his guard. That's going to sap some energy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Appley is trying hard to land a takedown here. McBain sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Brett Appley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nice takedown defense from McBain. No joy for Appley on that attempt. Peter McBain is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. McBain connects with a right hand. Appley shakes it off.
