Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cu Dan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nelson Diaz! The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Dan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Diaz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dan shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed Dan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cu Dan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Dan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Diaz scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Diaz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Dan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Dan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Dan tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Dan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Dan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Dan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Diaz finds it's way round the side to connect with Dan's head. Dan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Diaz looks to land a combination but Dan avoids it well. Diaz looks to land a combination but Dan avoids it well. Dan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away. Dan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Dan jumps guard and drags Diaz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Diaz stays in close to Dan's body and controls the position. Dan wants to improve his position but instead Diaz has moved into half guard.

Nelson Diaz dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Dan. Diaz tries to improve position but can't. Dan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working. Dan wants to stand but Diaz is controlling his arm. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz gets back to half guard. Dan tries to pass to full mount but Diaz defends it. Diaz is not content to let Dan control the position. Dan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Diaz is looking to control Dan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Diaz avoid being mounted?

Diaz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. The fighters circling - Diaz throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Diaz throws a right hand that Dan ducks under and follows up with a left that Dan also avoids with ease. Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily. Dan stuffs the takedown. Dan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cu Dan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dan tries to clinch up. Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Cu Dan dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Dan looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Dan missing with knees to the body.

Dan misses with a straight left. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dan shoots in but Diaz avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cu Dan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Dan is retaining full guard. Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Dan has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Diaz has passed into side control.
Dan struggling a bit here. Diaz is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Dan looks calm but he's in trouble here. Diaz gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Dan is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Diaz lets go of the hold and Dan can pop his arm back in it's socket.
