Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nova Pulp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ihyvae Hartley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nova Pulp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ihyvae Hartley! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hartley shoots in for a takedown but Pulp shows good takedown defense. Pulp gets in close and instigates a clinch. Pulp gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Pulp stands up from Hartley's guard - Pulp perhaps looking for a knockout. Pulp could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sloppy strikes from Hartley. Those never looked like landing. Hartley throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pulp tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hartley is in Pulp's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pulp looking for a sweep. Not yet Pulp, not yet. Pulp is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hartley is aware though and is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pulp trying to keep a closed guard but Hartley is proving a slippery customer.
Hartley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pulp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hartley wants to control from the top but Pulp keeps moving. Hartley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pulp is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulp wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hartley keeps working. Hartley is trying to maintain the position but Pulp is very close to passing his half guard. Hartley wants to improve his position but Pulp is controlling well.
Pulp controlling the action here. Hartley is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Pulp with the ground and pound but Hartley uses the opportunity to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hartley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pulp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pulp prevents Hartley from getting back to his feet. Pulp trying to control but Hartley is working from the bottom. Pulp controlling from the top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nova Pulp wasn't doing enough on the ground. Pulp misses with a two punch combination.
Hartley displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pulp throws out the jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pulp slaps away a takedown attempt from Hartley, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pulp displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hartley. Nova Pulp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ihyvae Hartley. Hartley looks gassed! Hartley tries to keep at a distance but Pulp has taken the fight into the clinch. Pulp tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hartley's elbow. Pulp misses with a punch on the inside.
Pulp pulls guard. Pulp has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pulp is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pulp bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hartley's guard. Pulp seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hartley has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pulp is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hartley. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pulp advances nicely into full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nova Pulp dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
No luck for Hartley with that takedown attempt. Hartley looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Nova Pulp overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pulp kicks off Hartley and gets to his feet. Hartley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pulp manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Some wild striking there from Hartley.
Pulp shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hartley's guard. Pulp slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Pulp trying to control but Hartley is working from the bottom. Hartley being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nova Pulp. Hartley dives in and grabs Pulp's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pulp pushes down on Hartley's head and hops out. Pulp shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hartley is trying to defend but Pulp finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Hartley is breathing heavily. Pulp slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulp is trying to control. Hartley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hartley trying to control from the bottom.
Pulp with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nova Pulp wasn't doing enough on the ground. Hartley throws a front kick aimed at Pulp's knee but Pulp avoids it well. Hartley tries to clinch up. Hartley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pulp counters with a takedown into side control. Nova Pulp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ihyvae Hartley. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pulp wants to control but Hartley is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hartley is looking to regain half guard here but Pulp keeps moving and retains side control. Pulp is looking to take a break and control but Hartley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pulp advances to mount. Pulp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pulp working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Hartley looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Pulp! Submission of the night perhaps?
