Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dextor Lavy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Dabest! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lavy digs a good body shot into Dabest's ribs. Lavy closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dabest circles away. Dabest looks to land a body kick but Lavy moved away. Lavy lands a lovely overhand right. Dabest throws a right and a left that Lavy avoids nicely. Lavy throws a sloppy head kick and Dabest moves out of range easily. Dabest moves into the clinch successfully.
Lavy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Dabest wants to sweep here but Lavy controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lavy stands and throws Dabest's legs to the side, diving into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lavy is looking to take a break and control but Dabest is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lavy sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Dabest is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lavy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dabest knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dabest manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lavy's best efforts. Lavy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dabest does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Dabest is looking to improve his position.
Dabest slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dabest looks gassed! Dabest pulls Lavy in close to his closed guard and prevents Lavy from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lavy looking to pass the guard. Dabest throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Lavy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dabest's guard. Lavy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dabest knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Dabest is looking for a sweep. Lavy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lavy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lavy is tying to control. Dabest wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dabest is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lavy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lavy's back! Dabest looking for the RNC. Dabest trying to control. Lavy is trying to break free.
Dabest lands strikes to the head. Dabest has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Lavy is in real trouble here. Dabest gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Lavy is tapping out! Dabest wins by rear naked choke!
