Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mick Maurizio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Shewmaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maurizio comes to the cage accompanied by NMH2: No More Riot. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shewmaker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Shewmaker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maurizio's guard.
Shewmaker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Maurizio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shewmaker is working away from the top position though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shewmaker enables Maurizio to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shewmaker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Maurizio postures up and lands a big shot to Shewmaker's brow.

Shewmaker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maurizio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maurizio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shewmaker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maurizio has managed to get both his arms back between Shewmaker's legs - danger averted.

Shewmaker is still on wobbly legs! Can Maurizio finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maurizio fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shewmaker sprawls well initially but Maurizio persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maurizio is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Shewmaker is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mick Maurizio!
After winning the bout, Mick Maurizio thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
