PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Joshua Ashkenazi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lockie Doo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gabriel Joshua Ashkenazi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lockie Doo!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ashkenazi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doo somewhat.

Doo clinches up with Ashkenazi and pushes him back against the cage.
Ashkenazi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ashkenazi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Doo pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Doo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Doo looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ashkenazi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Doo on the ground.

Doo is looking for a triangle but Ashkenazi pushes his legs off easily.
Doo lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ashkenazi!

Doo has hold of Ashkenazi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ashkenazi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Doo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
BOOM! Doo connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ashkenazi is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ashkenazi wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Doo.
Doo looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Doo has control of Ashkenazi's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ashkenazi regains control of the situation pretty easily.

It looks like Doo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lockie Doo wasn't active enough on the ground.
Doo throws a head kick that misses.
Lockie Doo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Doo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Doo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Doo slows the pace down.

Doo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ashkenazi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ashkenazi is looking to reverse the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lockie Doo dominated that round.
That's time! Ashkenazi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Doo drives through with a takedown into Ashkenazi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Doo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ashkenazi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ashkenazi trying to keep a closed guard but Doo is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Lockie Doo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Oooooh!!! Doo has knocked Ashkenazi down with a huge combo! Doo steps away and waves a wobbly Ashkenazi back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Ashkenazi is rocked!


It looks like Gabriel Joshua Ashkenazi has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ashkenazi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Oh Ashkenazi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Doo closes the distance looking for a takedown. Ashkenazi stuffs it but Doo still has hold of him. Doo picks Ashkenazi up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Doo slams Ashkenazi to the floor and that's really hurt Ashkenazi - he doesn't know where he is! Doo throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lockie Doo!
