Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zaru Kayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Banks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to White and Nerdy. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zaru Kayne! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kayne looks to land a combination but Banks avoids it well. Banks moves into range and clinches up with Kayne. Banks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kayne after a bit of a struggle. A head punch blocked on the inside by Kayne. Banks wants to take the fight to the mat but Kayne manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Banks misses with a hook from the clinch. Banks tries to pull guard but Kayne holds him up against the cage and eventually Banks drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Banks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Banks misses with the head strike.
Banks is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kayne pulls him back up using the underhooks. Banks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kayne after a bit of a struggle. Kayne breaks from the clinch.

and Banks holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Banks is trying to break the clinch but Kayne has him pressed against the cage. Banks working aggressively here.

A frustrated look appears on Kayne's face as he tries to break the clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Kayne. Banks swings wildly with an uppercut but Kayne uses good head movement to avoid it. Banks wants to get back to striking at distance but Kayne won't allow it.
Banks manages to break the clinch.
Banks wants to clinch up but Kayne keeps it at a distance. Banks looks for a takedown but Kayne sprawls well. No joy there for Kayne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Banks feints and as Kayne raises his hands in defense, Banks changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Kayne wants to stand and escape but Banks is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kayne being controlled here, momentarily. Kayne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Banks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Banks lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Banks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Banks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Banks slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kayne is pushing Banks's head away, looking to escape. Banks manages to hold on to the position though. Banks cracks Kayne with a big elbow. Kayne is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Banks has just dragged him back down to the mat. Banks cracks Kayne with a big right hand but Kayne just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Banks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Banks lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Banks advances to mount. Banks cracks Kayne with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The referee warns Kayne that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kayne is squirming around, avoiding Banks's attempts to control the action. Banks unloading with bombs! Banks scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Banks tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Kayne's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kayne is trying to stand but he's just given Banks his back. Kayne showing good submission defense here.
