Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clay Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damein Sheilds! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Castro lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sheilds circles away quickly and effectively. Castro throws a wild body kick that Sheilds sees coming a mile off. Castro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Castro shoots for a takedown but Sheilds saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Castro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sheilds swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sheilds circles away from the clinch attempt.
Castro is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sheilds's half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Castro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sheilds trying to hold on to Castro's head to control him but Castro postures up.
Sheilds is refusing to be controlled, as Castro sits in half guard. Castro seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheilds blocking the ground and pound attempt from Castro. Sheilds is pressing down on Castro's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sheilds wriggles free and stands up. Sheilds manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Castro on his heels. He'll look to pass Castro's guard now, I'm sure. Sheilds trying to control but Castro is working from the bottom. Sheilds is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Sheilds should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Castro is looking to sinch up a triangle. Sheilds throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Castro's body to avoid the submission. Castro has instead reached around Sheilds's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Castro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Clay Castro! Clay Castro very nearly forgot to thank MERKIN FIGHTWEAR amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
