Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evander Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naama Kala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Naama Kala!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kala wants to control but Tyson is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kala is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

I really don't envy Kala right now.
Tyson is trying to stick to Kala's back but Kala is turning into Tyson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Tyson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kala.

Kala avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kala takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kala with a lazy takedown attempt

and Tyson counters with a single leg into guard. Kala didn't expect that.
Tyson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kala is proving hard to escape from.

Tyson wants to work for an arm triangle but Kala is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tyson is looking for a kimura but Kala is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tyson to get the leverage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

so Kala counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tyson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Kala wants to control but Tyson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kala can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tyson wants to get up but he can't break Kala's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Evander Tyson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Tyson tries to close the distance and clinch but Kala swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kala has his takedown stuffed

and Tyson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

and Tyson counters with a shoot takedown. Kala fights it but they end up in guard.

Kala can't do much from the bottom here.
Kala tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tyson tries to advance to mount but Kala denies him.
Kala tries to buck Tyson off but Tyson is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kala shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Tyson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tyson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Tyson is controlling Kala's trapped leg to prevent Kala from advancing to side control.
Kala is keen to just control but Tyson is a slippery customer.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tyson is looking to control Kala's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tyson avoid being mounted?
Kala slows the pace down in half guard.

Kala prevents Tyson from improving his position.
Kala is just content to waste time from the top position. Tyson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Evander Tyson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
