Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rad Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Ryan Junior!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ryan Junior sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Colt somewhat.
Colt gets a takedown into half guard.
Colt is thwarting Ryan Junior's attempts to control the position.
Colt lands strikes from half guard.
Ryan Junior is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Colt pulls his head out easily.
Colt working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Colt throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ryan Junior to regain full guard.
Ryan Junior has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Colt off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ryan Junior rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Colt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ryan Junior doesn't manage to clinch there - Colt circles away.
Colt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan Junior wants to clinch up but Colt keeps it at a distance.
Colt scores with a takedown into Ryan Junior's guard.
Colt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Colt throwing strikes from guard but Ryan Junior blocks nicely.
Colt is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Ryan Junior has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Colt is looking to defend but Ryan Junior has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Colt! Ryan Junior pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Colt taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jack Ryan Junior!
After winning the bout, Jack Ryan Junior thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
