The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Klutie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Klutie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Denis wants to get back to his feet.

Klutie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Klutie seems to be working for a kimura but Denis defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Denis is trying to stand up here but Klutie is controlling him well.
Klutie slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Darnell Klutie wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Klutie shoots in and gets a takedown into Denis's guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Darnell Klutie wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Klutie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Denis misses with a takedown attempt - Klutie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Darnell Klutie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Denis gets tackled into the cage by Klutie. Klutie maintains the clinch.

Denis trying to control the position but instead, Klutie has worked for underhooks and has pushed Denis into the cage.
Klutie creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Denis's defenses.
Denis tries to score a body lock takedown but Klutie shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Denis throws a knee to the head but misses.

Denis stalling in the clinch but Klutie improves position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Klutie takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Klutie obliges.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Klutie turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Klutie manages to end up in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Denis seems a little lost for a moment, as Klutie dominates the positioning.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Denis bucks up and tries to throw Klutie off but instead Klutie has got his back!

Klutie misses with punches from the back.
Denis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Klutie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Klutie working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Denis is doing well to defend. Klutie seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Denis is forced to tap and this one is over!
