Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Nixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Killer! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Killer tries to close the distance and clinch but Nixon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nixon. Nixon catches Killer with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Nixon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Killer was covering up waiting for the punch and Nixon finishes the takedown easily into guard. Killer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Nixon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Nixon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Killer is keeping the position for now. Nixon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Killer works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nixon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Nixon trying to control but Killer is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nixon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Nixon scoring with some ground and pound. Killer has control of Nixon's left arm, preventing Nixon from doing any damage. Nixon prevents Killer from getting back to his feet.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Nixon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Killer circles away. Nixon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nixon throws a head kick that misses. Nixon shoots for a double leg takedown but Killer sprawls well. He's pushed Nixon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nixon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Killer shoots in but no luck this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killer tries to clinch but Nixon moves out of range. Killer dives in and grabs Nixon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nixon pushes down on Killer's head and hops out. Richard Nixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Killer. Nixon shoots in looking for a takedown but Killer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nixon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Nixon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nixon is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nixon shoots in for a takedown but Killer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nixon tries for a takedown but Killer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Killer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Killer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nixon. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nixon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Killer's waist but Killer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nixon off to one side. Nixon is breathing heavily. Killer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Killer seems to be working for a kimura but Nixon defends the submission attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nixon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Killer is working away from the top position though. Killer with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Nixon is trying to control but can't.
Killer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Killer keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Killer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Killer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Killer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nixon has managed to free his arm - good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Richard Nixon will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nixon looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Nixon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Nixon wants to stand but Killer is controlling his posture from full guard. Killer keeping moving, preventing Nixon from controlling successfully. Killer is adopting a defensive guard. Killer keeping moving, preventing Nixon from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Richard Nixon just wasn't active enough. Nixon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Killer's waist but Killer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nixon off to one side. Nixon gets caught flat footed, as Killer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Nixon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Killer stopping the sweep attempt from Nixon. Nixon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killer working to try and regain half guard.
Killer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nixon wants to control the pace but Killer is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Killer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nixon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Killer is looking to escape. Nixon wants to stand but Killer is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Killer regains half guard. Killer wants to control but Nixon is keeping busy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Killer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nixon did well to prevent Killer getting side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Killer is trying to control the action in half guard but Nixon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Nixon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Killer is working away from the top position though. Killer stands up and beckons Nixon to join him on the feet. Killer tries for a takedown but Nixon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Killer slaps away a takedown attempt from Nixon, before circling back to the center of the mat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Killer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sam Killer has got the better of the ground game so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nixon is staying active underneath Killer, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Killer is pressing down on Nixon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nixon is holding on for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Killer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Nixon is pressing down on Killer's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Killer won't allow Nixon to sweep him here. Killer trying to control but Nixon is working from the bottom. Killer stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Killer has Nixon pushed against the cage. Killer with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Killer jumps guard but Nixon stands there with Killer around his waist. Killer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Killer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight stays on the outside here - Killer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Killer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nixon shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard Nixon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Killer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Killer looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Killer content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Killer is pressing down on Nixon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Nixon is holding on for now. Killer gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Nixon lands a jab-cross combination. Killer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nixon is able to avoid easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Killer moves in looking to clinch but Nixon pushes him off. Killer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Killer wants it to stay on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nixon tries to clinch up but Killer circles away and keeps his distance.
And that's the end of the fight! Sam Killer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Killer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
