Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Chon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Schmoe!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Schmoe gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Chon pulls guard successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Schmoe pushes down on Chon's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Schmoe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Schmoe is trying to work for a kimura but Chon is defending well.
Chon works his way to full guard. Good work.
Schmoe controls from within his opponent's guard.
Chon keeping moving, preventing Schmoe from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Schmoe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Schmoe advances to half guard.
Schmoe trying to control the pace.

Schmoe wants to work for an arm triangle but Chon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Schmoe content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Schmoe is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Chon!
Chon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Chon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chon tries to get out of the position.
Chon tries to lock up and control but Schmoe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Schmoe throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Chon because Schmoe loaded up on that one.

Schmoe working for a guillotine from mount but Chon is in no mood to give up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chon is squirming around, avoiding Schmoe's attempts to control the action.
Chon wants to hold on but Schmoe pushes him away.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Schmoe controlling the pace for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schmoe with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Schmoe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Schmoe tries to control but Chon wriggling away.

Chon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Schmoe working for a submission but Chon is keeping him at bay.

Schmoe looking to secure an arm triangle but Chon defends it well.
Chon is in all sorts of trouble here.
Schmoe controlling the pace for now.
Chon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chon tries to hold on but Schmoe postures up.

Schmoe working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Chon looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Schmoe! Submission of the night perhaps?
