Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Jones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Patterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with the combination.
Patterson throws a leg kick but Jones moved away. A lazy left from Jones finds it's target. Patterson shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Jones manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Patterson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Patterson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Patterson gets full guard. Patterson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson tries to land a sweep but no joy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patterson pushes Jones off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Patterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Patterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jones is pressing down on Patterson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Patterson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Patterson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Patterson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jones's head. Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Patterson stands and steps away. Jones gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side. Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Patterson keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Patterson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jones to the ground. Patterson is now in Jones's guard. Patterson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Patterson chips away with some ground and pound. Patterson scoring with punches to the head and body. Jones throws his legs up looking for a submission but Patterson uses it to pass to side control.
Jones looks gassed! Patterson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jones to his feet. A combination from Patterson does no damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson lands a jab to Jones's midsection. Patterson clinches up against the cage. Patterson manages to break the clinch.
Patterson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Jones won't allow Patterson to pass to mount. Jones tries to get to full guard but Patterson has control of the leg. Patterson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Patterson. Patterson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson scoring with strikes to the body and head. Patterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Patterson pulls his head out easily. Patterson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Patterson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Jones walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Patterson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones throws a leg kick but Patterson checks it. Patterson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Patterson missing with knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Patterson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A leg kick checked by Patterson. Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Patterson tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Patterson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jones throws a series of punches but Patterson avoids them all with ease. Jones uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Patterson has time to react. Jones looks to land a right hand but Patterson moved out of range. A head kick misses from Patterson. Patterson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Patterson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Patterson controlling the action here. Patterson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with. Jones looking for submissions off his back. Jones is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones actively working from the bottom here. Patterson seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt. Patterson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Patterson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Patterson eventually gives up the hold. Andre Patterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones wants to control but Patterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Patterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Patterson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Patterson passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jones tries to reverse the position but Patterson maintains control. Patterson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Jones regains half guard. Patterson prevents Jones from improving his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Patterson working the head and body with strikes. Patterson passes to full mount! Patterson looking to control and managing it successfully. Patterson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jones manages to avoid the submission attempt. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones tries to buck Patterson off but Patterson is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Patterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Patterson passes into half guard. Patterson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Patterson passes into side control, despite Jones's attempt to control the position.
Patterson decides to stand back up. Patterson looking to score a takedown here. Jones is defending well but Patterson drives through and ends up in Jones's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Patterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Patterson drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Patterson as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Jones screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Patterson! Nice submission victory there!
