Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Proudstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyrus Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Proudstar comes into the arena with "Run to the hills" by Iron Maiden blaring out of the sound system. James Proudstar has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cyrus Griffin! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Griffin. Proudstar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Proudstar tries to roll over but Griffin keeps him under control. Griffin is trying to work for a kimura but Proudstar is defending well.
Griffin works his way into side control. Proudstar tries to improve position but can't. Griffin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Proudstar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Proudstar looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Griffin blocks the strikes from Proudstar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin wants to pass to mount but Proudstar is defending the position. Griffin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Proudstar is just riding it out for now. Griffin eventually gives up the hold. Proudstar looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Proudstar works his way to full guard. Good work. Griffin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Proudstar is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Griffin, into his guard. Proudstar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Griffin looks gassed! Proudstar drops back looking for a leg! Griffin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Griffin manages to kick Proudstar off! Proudstar jumps back into Griffin's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Proudstar's guard. Proudstar wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment. Proudstar had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Griffin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Proudstar Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Griffin's back instead. Griffin wants to escape the position.

A leg kick checked by Griffin. James Proudstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Proudstar throws a nice inside leg kick. Proudstar tries for a takedown but Griffin circles away easily and Griffin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Griffin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Proudstar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Griffin's best efforts. Proudstar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Proudstar had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. But no, Griffin has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Griffin tries to free his leg and advance position but Proudstar is retaining full guard. Proudstar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Griffin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Proudstar keeping full guard, as Griffin tries to pass. Proudstar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Proudstar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Proudstar is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Griffin has managed to free his arm - good work. Proudstar is pressing down on Griffin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Griffin is holding on for now. Griffin wants to get back to full guard. Proudstar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Proudstar is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Proudstar closes the distance looking to clinch and Griffin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Griffin is looking for a kimura but Proudstar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Griffin to get the leverage. Proudstar moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Proudstar is on top in guard.

A close second round but Cyrus Griffin will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Proudstar fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Griffin is out of range. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Griffin has eaten all the pies! Proudstar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. An inside leg kick lands from Proudstar. Proudstar throws a lazy body kick so Griffin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Griffin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Proudstar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Griffin has Proudstar in his guard.

Proudstar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Proudstar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Griffin tries to land a sweep but no joy. Griffin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Griffin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Proudstar is looking to work some ground and pound but Griffin has wrist control. Proudstar tries to free his leg and advance position but Griffin is retaining full guard. Griffin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Proudstar has picked Griffin up and slammed him! Griffin can't keep hold of the triangle and Proudstar manages to pass to side control! That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Proudstar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Proudstar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Griffin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Proudstar advances nicely into full mount. Proudstar working for a guillotine from mount but Griffin is in no mood to give up. Griffin is working to get back to half guard.

Griffin is looking to improve his position but Proudstar isn't that keen on the idea. Proudstar lands a big elbow. Proudstar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Griffin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Griffin is looking to improve his position but Proudstar isn't that keen on the idea. Griffin gets back to half guard. Griffin is refusing to be controlled, as Proudstar sits in half guard. Griffin is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Proudstar pulls his head out easily. Griffin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Griffin is looking for a triangle but Proudstar pushes his legs off easily.
