Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk comes to the cage accompanied by Master P - Heaven For A Gangsta. Pedro Omar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Monk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Omar!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Omar was well out of range. Poor timing from Monk.
Omar has his takedown stuffed
and Monk counters with an outside leg kick.

Marcus Monk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monk feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Omar's calf.
Monk scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
An inside leg kick lands from Monk.
Monk throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Monk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Omar backs up against the cage.

and Monk counters with a stiff right hand.

Monk connects with a good right hand that stumbles Omar. Omar circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Omar closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Omar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Monk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Omar won't be happy with that.
Marcus Monk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Omar.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
