Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pirre Lirre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Silva! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Silva is working for a kimura but Lirre is defending it quite comfortably.
Silva with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lirre is looking to escape. Silva stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Marco Silva wasn't active enough on the ground. Lirre blocks the body kick.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Lirre enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lirre manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Lirre is trying to control the position but Silva postures up. Silva is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lirre is trying to control the position but Silva postures up. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lirre rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A shot in the inside from Silva. Silva decides to pull guard. Silva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Lirre trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silva's guard. Silva scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Silva clinches with his opponent.
Lirre is looking to break free of the clinch but Silva has double underhooks. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Nice body punch from Silva.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva pulls guard effortlessly. Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lirre is one step ahead there. Lirre has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Lirre is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Silva has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Lirre is looking to defend but Silva has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Lirre! Silva pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Lirre taps out and this one is all over!
