Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Woodley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woodley comes to the cage accompanied by Seek & Destroy - Metallica. Tyron Woodley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyron Woodley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jean Van Dam! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodley shoots in but no luck this time. Van Dam throws a hook but Woodley avoids it easily. Woodley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Van Dam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Woodley somewhat. Van Dam staying out of range there. A lazy left from Woodley finds it's target. Van Dam throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Woodley throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Woodley throws the left hand but Van Dam avoids the punch easily. Van Dam ducks under a wild hook from Woodley. Van Dam closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Van Dam content to control rather than advance. Van Dam is keen to just control but Woodley is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Dam missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Van Dam not doing much here.
Woodley is staying active underneath Van Dam, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jean Van Dam has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Van Dam ducks under a wild hook from Woodley. Woodley throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Van Dam swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Woodley thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Dam throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Van Dam displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Woodley. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyron Woodley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Woodley uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Van Dam.
Woodley bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Van Dam shoots in but no luck this time. Van Dam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woodley was well out of range. Poor timing from Van Dam. Woodley with a lazy takedown attempt and Van Dam counters with a stiff right hand. A looping hook to the body misses from Van Dam. Woodley does a little dance to reset his feet. Van Dam lands with an overhand left. This has been an exciting period of action! Woodley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Woodley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Woodley keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A swing and a miss from Woodley. Van Dam ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Van Dam misses with a hook.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Dam getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Van Dam scores a takedown into full mount! Van Dam trying to control but he's not successful this time. Van Dam thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Woodley wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Van Dam.
Woodley is desperately trying to improve his position but Van Dam has a good base and remains in mount. Van Dam takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woodley wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
BOOM! Van Dam connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Van Dam trying to control but Woodley is having none of it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Van Dam has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Woodley's face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Van Dam cracks Woodley with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Van Dam misses with a head shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jean Van Dam dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Van Dam scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Woodley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Dam looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Van Dam takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Woodley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Van Dam keeps working. Van Dam manages to work his way to half guard, despite Woodley's best efforts. Van Dam moves into full guard.
Van Dam is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Van Dam is looking to advance position but Woodley won't allow it. Woodley looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Van Dam winds up and cracks Woodley with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Van Dam trying to control the action but Woodley is working from the bottom. Woodley wants to stand back up but Van Dam manages to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodley seems a little lost for a moment, as Van Dam dominates the positioning. Woodley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Van Dam on the ground. Van Dam has knee on belly and moves into mount. Woodley holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Van Dam tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Van Dam tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Dam trying to control but Woodley is having none of it. Van Dam landing shots from mount. A nice elbow there by Van Dam. Van Dam controlling the pace for now. Van Dam lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Van Dam sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Woodley tries to hold on but Van Dam pushes him away. Van Dam unloading with bombs! Van Dam looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jean Van Dam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Woodley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Van Dam swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Woodley slips a straight right by Van Dam. Tyron Woodley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Woodley displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Van Dam throws out the jab. Woodley is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Van Dam. Van Dam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Woodley's waist but Woodley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Dam off to one side. Woodley leaves Van Dam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Van Dam jabbing away but nothing is landing. Van Dam looks to land a left hand but Woodley moved out of range nicely. Van Dam has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Woodley looks to throw the jab but Van Dam is out of range. Tyron Woodley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Woodley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Van Dam avoids it really well and circles away. Van Dam closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Woodley's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Dam advances to half guard. Van Dam is keen to just control but Woodley is a slippery customer. Van Dam is working for a kimura but Woodley is defending it quite comfortably.
Jean Van Dam has got the better of the ground game so far. Van Dam sitting and controlling from the half guard. Woodley is trying to maintain the position but Van Dam is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Van Dam is looking to advance position but Woodley won't allow it. Woodley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Woodley pushes Van Dam off looking to stand but Van Dam dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Dam with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Van Dam misses with a body shot.
Van Dam pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Van Dam avoids a punch combination nicely.
Van Dam steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Woodley. Woodley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Van Dam throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Woodley was covering up waiting for the punch and Van Dam finishes the takedown easily into guard. Van Dam looking to pass the guard. Van Dam has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Dam engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Jean Van Dam is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Let's hope that Van Dam has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jean Van Dam wasn't active enough on the ground. Van Dam thows a body shot but no joy. Tyron Woodley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Van Dam with a hook.
And that's the end of the fight! Jean Van Dam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Van Dam has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
