Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hiro Miyagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heikki Huikkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huikkonen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Timo Rautiainen - Rekkamies. Heikki Huikkonen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Heikki Huikkonen!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Miyagi. No joy for Huikkonen on that attempt.

Miyagi feints and as Huikkonen raises his hands in defense, Miyagi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Huikkonen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Miyagi stopping the sweep attempt from Huikkonen.
Miyagi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Miyagi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Huikkonen wants to sweep here but Miyagi controlling him for the moment.
Miyagi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Huikkonen can't keep his opponent in guard - Miyagi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Miyagi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Miyagi is controlling the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Miyagi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Huikkonen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Miyagi is working away from the top position though.

Miyagi wants to pass the guard but Huikkonen is defending well.

Miyagi is looking to advance position but Huikkonen won't allow it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hiro Miyagi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Huikkonen counters with a nice body shot.
Huikkonen tries to clinch but Miyagi moves out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Huikkonen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Huikkonen doesn't manage to clinch there - Miyagi circles away.
Huikkonen misses with a two punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Miyagi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Miyagi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Miyagi passes to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Miyagi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Miyagi prefers to stall for the moment though.
Huikkonen is looking to regain half guard here but Miyagi keeps moving and retains side control.

Miyagi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huikkonen is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Miyagi is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Huikkonen is trying desperately to improve position.
Miyagi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Huikkonen stops Miyagi from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Miyagi avoids the attempt from Huikkonen to control.
Miyagi controlling the pace for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miyagi moves to the back.
Miyagi biding his time, looking for the opening.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hiro Miyagi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Huikkonen with a lazy takedown attempt

and Miyagi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Huikkonen won't be happy with that.

Miyagi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Huikkonen is trying to control Miyagi's posture but Miyagi avoids it.

Huikkonen misses with a strike from the bottom.
Miyagi working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Miyagi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Huikkonen tries to buck Miyagi off but Miyagi is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Miyagi advances nicely into full mount.
Miyagi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiro Miyagi dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!



Miyagi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Huikkonen sprawls well initially but Miyagi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Huikkonen is trying to control but can't.
Miyagi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Huikkonen won't allow Miyagi to pass to mount.
Miyagi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Hiro Miyagi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Huikkonen tries to clinch but Miyagi moves away

and Miyagi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Huikkonen!
Miyagi is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Huikkonen tries to hold on but Miyagi postures up.
Miyagi controlling the pace for now.

Huikkonen wants to control but Miyagi is having none of it.
Miyagi looking to control and managing it successfully.
Miyagi won't let Huikkonen get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Miyagi is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Huikkonen is forced to tap! Great finish!
