Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paavo Vayrynen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Gunn! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vayrynen gets the takedown into side control. Vayrynen in side control, throwing shots but Gunn defends. Vayrynen looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Gunn is avoiding damage well.
Vayrynen misses with an attempted head punch from side control. This fight is sponsored by Chainsaw 7. More blood and guts and stuff like that, in cinemas everywhere now! Vayrynen throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Vayrynen throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Vayrynen is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gunn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vayrynen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gunn can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gunn managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Vayrynen.
Gunn is not content to let Vayrynen control the position. Vayrynen scores with a couple of short elbows. Gunn avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vayrynen. Vayrynen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vayrynen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vayrynen gets to mount! Gunn was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Vayrynen looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gunn is in a horrible position here. Vayrynen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Vayrynen lands a nice shot to the head. Gunn is bucking up trying to escape but Vayrynen cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Vayrynen lands a big elbow - Gunn is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Gunn is forced to tap out!
