The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stein swats away the attempt to clinch by Thompson.
Thompson wants to clinch
enabling Stein to counter with a crisp jab.
Stein shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thompson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Thompson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Stein asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Stein cracks Thompson with a big elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stein has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Thompson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Stein yanks on the arm and Thompson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Stein.

In his post fight interview, John Stein started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
