Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Denis Aussi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Denis Aussi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antonio Palhares!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aussi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Palhares fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aussi avoids it really well and circles away.
Aussi slaps away a takedown attempt from Palhares, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Denis Aussi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Palhares.
Nice takedown defense from Aussi. No joy for Palhares on that attempt.
Aussi throws a body kick that misses.
Palhares will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

so Palhares counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Aussi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Aussi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Palhares is one step ahead there.
Aussi has his hands on Palhares's head, controlling the position.

Denis Aussi has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Aussi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Palhares defends it nicely.

Aussi scores with a hook to the body. Palhares takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Aussi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Aussi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Aussi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Palhares drops back, looking for a kneebar! Aussi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Aussi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Aussi!
Palhares is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Aussi has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Palhares manages to work his way to half guard, despite Aussi's best efforts.
It looks like Aussi is going to stand back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Palhares escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aussi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Palhares has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aussi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Palhares wants to stand but Aussi is controlling the position.

Palhares is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aussi is aware though and is defending well.
Aussi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aussi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Palhares looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Aussi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palhares on the ground.

Aussi is trying to stick to Palhares's back but Palhares is turning into Aussi. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Aussi's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Palhares.

Palhares drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aussi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Palhares has Aussi in his guard.

Aussi stands and steps away. Palhares gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Aussi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aussi shoots in looking for a takedown but Palhares manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aussi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Palhares goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Aussi turns into him and now he's in Palhares's guard.

Aussi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palhares swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Palhares quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Aussi has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Palhares celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
