Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kors Svardet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Svardet's choice of entrance music: "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Schmidt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kors Svardet! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Svardet throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schmidt's waist but Schmidt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Svardet off to one side. Svardet walks into a left hand. Schmidt fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. No joy there for Schmidt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Svardet fails with the takedown. Schmidt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A jab from Schmidt finds it's way through Svardet's defenses. Schmidt connects with the punch. David Schmidt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schmidt closes the distance and pushes Svardet back into the cage. Schmidt scores with a knee to the head.

Schmidt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Svardet shoots in and gets a takedown into Schmidt's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Svardet with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Svardet is looking to work some ground and pound but Schmidt has wrist control. Schmidt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Schmidt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Svardet is one step ahead there. Svardet is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Schmidt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Schmidt has escaped and now he's on top! Schmidt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Svardet swivels though and keeps the full guard. Schmidt pushing down on Svardet's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Schmidt is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Svardet looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Svardet is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Schmidt pulls his head out easily. Svardet looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Svardet looks gassed! Schmidt is working for a kimura but Svardet is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Schmidt not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Schmidt is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Schmidt stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Svardet uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Schmidt. Schmidt stalks Svardet and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Svardet's face. Svardet staggers backwards, shaken. Schmidt connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Svardet's hands. Schmidt lands a two punch combo.
Svardet slips a jab from Schmidt. Svardet fails miserably with a takedown attempt. David Schmidt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kors Svardet. Schmidt scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Svardet shoots in for a takedown but Schmidt shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Svardet shoots in but no luck this time. Schmidt cracks Svardet with a right hand to the side of the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Svardet fails to land the takedown. Schmidt connects with a crisp jab. Schmidt's corner calls for a 1-2. Schmidt obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Nice shot by Schmidt. Schmidt scores with a three punch combo!
Schmidt stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schmidt wants it to stay on the feet. Schmidt lands a nice hook to Svardet's body. Svardet takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Schmidt moves into range and connects with a jab. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schmidt throws a good cross that connects.
Schmidt throws a nice looking combination but Svardet bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Svardet dodges the punch combination from Schmidt.

Svardet shoots for a double leg takedown but Schmidt sprawls well. He's pushed Svardet's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Schmidt throws out a powerful jab. Svardet throws a series of punches but Schmidt moves out of range. Schmidt moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Schmidt works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Svardet shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Svardet is rocked! David Schmidt is winning the standup battle so far. Schmidt misses with a wild combination.
Svardet is still on wobbly legs! Can Schmidt finish him? Schmidt catches Svardet with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Svardet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Svardet seems to have recovered his senses. Svardet fails with the takedown and Schmidt counters with a three punch combo that has Svardet backing up. Svardet nods at Schmidt to acknowledge the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schmidt slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Schmidt uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Svardet has time to react. Schmidt wants to clinch up but Svardet keeps it at a distance. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Svardet tries for a takedown but Schmidt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Schmidt is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Svardet takes one on the chin but seems OK.
David Schmidt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Svardet gets tackled into the cage by Schmidt. Schmidt maintains the clinch. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Schmidt obliges. Schmidt with a knee to the head.
Nice elbow from Schmidt. Schmidt lands an elbow inside. Schmidt working the clinch nicely. Svardet is working for position but Schmidt cracks him with a big knee to the head! Svardet crumples up against the cage and Schmidt lands two more shots before the ref can save Svardet! This one is all over!
