Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Caio Magalhaes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuu Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Caio Magalhaes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuu Kato!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magalhaes avoids a kick to the body.
Magalhaes doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kato counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kato stands up.
Magalhaes dives in and grabs Kato's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kato pushes down on Magalhaes's head and hops out.
Kato misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Magalhaes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kato tries to avoid it but Magalhaes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kato to the ground. Kato escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caio Magalhaes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kato misses with a two punch combination.
Magalhaes tries to clinch there but Kato circles away.
Kato misses with a straight right.
Magalhaes fails with a takedown attempt.
Magalhaes leaves Kato with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Magalhaes pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kato will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Magalhaes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kato swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kato shoots in for a takedown but Magalhaes shows good takedown defense.
Magalhaes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kato is trying to defend but Magalhaes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kato gets full guard.
Kato looks gassed!
Magalhaes trying to control but Kato is working from the bottom.

Kato manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Magalhaes manages to get himself to full guard.

Kato throws a strike but Magalhaes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Magalhaes won't allow Kato to sweep him here.

Magalhaes wants to control from the top but Kato keeps moving.
Magalhaes wants to pass the guard but Kato is keeping the position.
Kato keeping moving, preventing Magalhaes from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Caio Magalhaes just wasn't active enough.
Kato thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Magalhaes if he has to take too many more of those.
Magalhaes misses the shot to the body.
Kato throws a series of punches but Magalhaes avoids them all with ease.
Magalhaes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Magalhaes is defended easily by Kato.
Kato shoots for a double leg takedown but Magalhaes sprawls well. He's pushed Kato's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Magalhaes fails in his attempt to clinch.
A head kick by Kato misses
and Magalhaes counters with a left to the body.
Magalhaes clinches up with Kato and pushes him back against the cage.

Kato is trying to pull guard but Magalhaes has him pressed against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kato can't get the takedown.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Caio Magalhaes will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kato passes into half guard.
Magalhaes trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Magalhaes is wriggling around trying to escape.
Magalhaes manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Kato gets to his feet but Magalhaes grabs hold of a leg and swivels beautifully into a kneebar. Kato falls to the floor but he can't defend the quick submission attempt and has to tap quickly to save his knee ligaments! Very nice work from Magalhaes!
