Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Brenkus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicky Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen rick ross as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nicky Nate Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brenkus scores with the left hand. Diaz knows he should have avoided that one.


It looks like Nicky Nate Diaz has been cut.
Diaz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Brenkus drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Brenkus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Brenkus from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Brenkus.

Brenkus shoots in and bounces Diaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brenkus sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Brenkus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz misses with a takedown

and Brenkus counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Diaz's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brenkus gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Brenkus has managed to clinch.

Brenkus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Diaz tries for a takedown but Brenkus circles away easily

and Brenkus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diaz's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brenkus postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Brenkus wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diaz is looking to stand up but Brenkus isn't so interested in that idea.
Brenkus is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Brenkus.

Brenkus manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.
Diaz wants to sweep here but Brenkus controlling him for the moment.

Brenkus gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Brenkus clinches.
Diaz tries to circle away but Brenkus has him pinned against the cage.

Brenkus has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Diaz clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Brenkus scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
I really don't envy Diaz right now.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brenkus is working the ground and pound. Can Diaz escape?

Brenkus is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Diaz defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Brenkus has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Diaz's body.
Brenkus tries to get the hooks in deep but Diaz pushed the leg off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Diaz breaks Brenkus's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Brenkus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Brenkus dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Nicky Nate Diaz's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


No luck for Diaz with that takedown attempt.

Brenkus moves into range and clinches up with Diaz.

Brenkus gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Brenkus seems to be looking for submissions.

Brenkus stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Brenkus closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Brenkus getting side control.
Diaz tries to get to full guard but Brenkus has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brenkus seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt.

Still in half guard, Brenkus seems content to control.
Brenkus is pressing down on Diaz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Diaz is holding on for now.
Diaz tries to kick Brenkus off but Brenkus keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Brenkus is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Diaz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brenkus.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brenkus is trying to work for a kimura but Diaz is defending well.

Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Brenkus is controlling the pace.

Brenkus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Diaz defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brenkus is stalling here. Diaz is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brenkus seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Diaz has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Brenkus struggling a bit here.
Brenkus is pushing Diaz's head away, looking to escape. Diaz manages to hold on to the position though.
Diaz works to advance to full mount. Brenkus defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Diaz throws some wild stikes that Brenkus manages to avoid easily.

Diaz working for a guillotine from mount but Brenkus is in no mood to give up.
John Brenkus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brenkus keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Diaz throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Diaz looking to control but Brenkus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Brenkus tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nicky Nate Diaz!
In his post fight interview, Nicky Nate Diaz started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
