Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jefferson Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Cobalt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Cobalt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jefferson Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Cobalt!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cobalt throws a head kick that misses

and Hicks counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Hicks breaks from the clinch.
A head kick by Cobalt misses

and Hicks counters by moving into the clinch.
Cobalt jumps guard but Hicks stands there with Cobalt around his waist. Cobalt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cobalt is trying to break free.
Hicks controlling the action here for a moment.
Cobalt tries to pull guard but Hicks won't allow it.
Cobalt is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Cobalt tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Jefferson Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Cobalt.

Hicks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hicks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cobalt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cobalt tries to improve position but can't.
Hicks just content to control the position.
Hicks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cobalt on the ground.
Hicks is working Cobalt over with some ground and pound from side control.
Cobalt gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cobalt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hicks wants to pass the guard but Cobalt is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hicks trying to control the action but Cobalt is working from the bottom.
Cobalt tries to roll over but Hicks keeps him under control.
Hicks winds up and cracks Cobalt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hicks lands with a punch from half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hicks in particular looking to stall.
Hicks looks to score some points with some ground and pound.


Cobalt is rocked!
Hicks lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Cobalt quite badly. Cobalt pulls Hicks in close trying to recover. Hicks postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cobalt on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cobalt doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jefferson Hicks!
