Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Guillermo Penderas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Angel Riori! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penderas scores with a nice strike. Penderas catches Riori with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Penderas misses with a hook
and Riori counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Penderas makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Penderas catches Riori with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Sloppy strikes from Penderas. Those never looked like landing. Penderas is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. A big right from Penderas misses. Riori staying out of range there. Riori misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Penderas gets caught flat footed, as Riori shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Riori is fighting to break Penderas's control of his arms but Penderas is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Riori pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Penderas is keeping the position for now. Penderas wants to get back to his feet but Riori is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Penderas keeping moving, preventing Riori from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Guillermo Penderas. Riori shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Riori misses with a head shot. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Riori wants to take his opponent's back but Penderas doesn't allow it. Riori moves to the back position. Riori seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Penderas's chin but Penderas turns very nicely into Riori's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Penderas.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Riori throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Riori tries to land a sweep but no joy. Riori is looking for a triangle but Penderas pushes his legs off easily.
Riori managing to control the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Riori trying to keep a closed guard but Penderas is proving a slippery customer.
Penderas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riori on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riori is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Penderas is aware though and is defending well. Penderas wanted to stand there but Riori had control of the position. Penderas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riori has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Penderas has managed to get both his arms back between Riori's legs - danger averted. Penderas trying to control but Riori is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penderas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riori swivels though and keeps the full guard. Riori not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Riori looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Angel Riori dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Penderas scores with a one two! Riori had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Penderas misses with an uppercut. Riori fails to land the takedown. Riori avoids a punch combination nicely.
Penderas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Riori moves away. Good standup being displayed there by Penderas as he connects with a hook. Riori shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penderas sprawls well. Penderas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Riori gets slowly back to his feet. Riori shoots in looking for a takedown but Penderas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Riori's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Guillermo Penderas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Riori. Penderas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Riori closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Penderas's guard. Riori drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penderas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Riori has Penderas in his guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Riori looking for a sweep. Not yet Riori, not yet. Riori is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Riori had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Penderas defends it easily. Riori working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riori is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Riori looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Penderas puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Penderas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Penderas wants to stand up but Riori has a hold of him and won't allow it. Angel Riori has got the better of the ground game so far. The fighters are battling for position here. Riori manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Riori has a closed guard, preventing Penderas from standing up. Penderas content to stall in guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penderas preventing the sweep. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Riori looking to control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Riori throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Riori takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Riori is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Riori. Riori shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Penderas as he jumps to the side. Penderas is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Riori fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Penderas to the ground. Riori is now in Penderas's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penderas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Riori wants to pass the guard but Penderas is keeping the position. Penderas wants to stand and escape but Riori is having none of it. Penderas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Penderas controlling the position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guillermo Penderas has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Penderas throws a nice looking combination but Riori bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Penderas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Horrible takedown by Riori or perhaps it was just good defense by Penderas which made him look bad. Riori drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Angel Riori showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Riori is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Penderas has managed to free his arm - good work. Riori is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Riori is stalling here. Penderas is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Riori seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Penderas has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Riori is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riori wants to control but Penderas postures up. Riori is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Penderas is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Riori is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Penderas wants to get back to his feet but Riori is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Guillermo Penderas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Riori content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Riori stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penderas swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penderas keeping moving, preventing Riori from controlling successfully. Riori looking to pass the guard. Angel Riori is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Penderas can't keep his opponent in guard - Riori advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
