Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lawrence kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawrence rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Lawrence gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Lawrence jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Lawrence gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lawrence is wriggling around trying to escape.
Silva throws some wild stikes that Lawrence manages to avoid easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva unloads with some shots from mount but Lawrence bucks and avoids them well.

Lawrence is desperately trying to improve his position but Silva has a good base and remains in mount.

Silva lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lawrence's waist but Lawrence gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.

Silva gets to his feet. Lawrence looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lawrence fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Lawrence swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva.

Lawrence dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Lawrence's head and hops out.

Lawrence is really struggling to control Silva but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lawrence can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Silva has his foot on Lawrence's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lawrence works his way back into a safe position though.

Lawrence throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Silva tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lawrence is in Silva's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Johnny Lawrence wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
