Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Grimey Wall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Diaz! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wall fails with a takedown attempt. Wall misses with a few strikes there.
Wall tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily and Diaz counters with a nice kick to the body. Diaz connects with a solid leg kick. Wall fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grimey Wall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz tries to clinch but Wall is having none of it. Diaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wall keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Diaz lands a head kick!
Some bone on bone action there as Wall checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Wall tries for a takedown but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Wall closes the distance and clinches up with Diaz, looking for a takedown. Wall pushes Diaz against the cage but Diaz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Diaz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Diaz. Diaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wall closes the distance and clinches up with Diaz, looking for a takedown. Wall pushes Diaz against the cage but Diaz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet. Diego Diaz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Diaz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Wall's calf. Wall fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wall on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Wall is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wall has his takedown stuffed and Diaz counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz lands with a kick to the temple. Wall shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Diaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Diaz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wall swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wall circles away from the clinch attempt and Wall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Diaz won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Wall tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Diaz takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wall moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Wall prevents Diaz from escaping the position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wall working the ground and pound from side control. Diaz is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Wall in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Diaz is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wall is controlling him well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Wall landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Wall connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Diaz some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Diego Diaz will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Diaz cracks the inside of Wall's front leg. Wall could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wall closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away. Wall tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Diaz swivels and escapes. A leg kick checked by Wall. Wall tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Diaz is able to avoid easily. Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Wall ducks down to avoid it. Wall fails with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grimey Wall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Diaz defends it nicely. Diaz throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Wall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wall fails with a takedown attempt. Grimey Wall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Diaz connects with an inside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wall misses with a wild combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wall is defended easily by Diaz. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wall manages to avoid it. Wall is looking to chop away at Diaz's legs. Wall throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diaz's waist but Diaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wall off to one side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wall staying out of range there. Wall shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Diaz defends it nicely. Wall blocks a leg kick. Diaz lands a head kick!
It looks like Grimey Wall has been cut. The fight moves into the clinch position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Diaz lands with a light punch inside. Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wall blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Wall takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Diego Diaz seems to be getting the better of the standup. This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz stuffs the takedown. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz is looking to clinch. Diaz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Grimey Wall's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Diaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Wall manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Diaz throws a nice inside leg kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Diaz with a jab. Wall tries for a takedown but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That kick from Diaz tenderised Wall's leg. Wall is trying to keep his angry face on. Diaz tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Diaz cracks the inside of Wall's front leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz wants to clinch. A nice leg kick lands there from Diaz. Diaz throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Diaz lands a leg kick that knocks Wall off balance momentarily. Wall chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Diaz can pounce on him.
Diaz throws a solid leg kick but Wall takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Diaz. Diego Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wall fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Diaz tries to land a leg kick but Wall saw it coming and moves away.
Nice jab there from Diaz. Wall shoots in looking for a takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl out of it but Wall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Diaz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grimey Wall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wall takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wall finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Diaz lands a high kick!
Grimey Wall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wall takes one to the side of the head.
Wall with a lazy takedown attempt and Diaz counters with a big head kick but Wall shrugs it off. Diaz throws a hook but Wall avoids it easily. Diaz moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Diaz cracks the inside of Wall's front leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wall closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Wall getting side control. Diaz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wall. Diaz is trying to stand.
Wall seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Wall sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Diaz defending well though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wall not landing any meaningful shots this time. Wall is looking for a kimura here.
Diaz pushes Wall off looking to stand but Wall dives back in and keeps control.
Grimey Wall has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Diaz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
