The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson Jr takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fedor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fedor lands a slapping body shot.
Patterson Jr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fedor tries to avoid it but Patterson Jr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fedor to the ground. Fedor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Patterson Jr drives through and clinches with Fedor against the cage.
Fedor wants to break free but Patterson Jr has control.
Fedor is trying to drag Patterson Jr to the mat but Patterson Jr just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Patterson Jr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fedor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Patterson Jr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Fedor lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Patterson Jr backwards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Patterson Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Fedor wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fedor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Patterson Jr manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fedor on his heels. He'll look to pass Fedor's guard now, I'm sure.
