Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Crimson Tide (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Konstantinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Konstantinov!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tide clinches with his opponent.
Tide has Konstantinov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Konstantinov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Tide working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Konstantinov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tide smiles and moves away.
Tide shoots in for a double leg but Konstantinov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tide shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Konstantinov as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crimson Tide. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Konstantinov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tide.

Tide fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Konstantinov avoids it really well and circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Konstantinov shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Tide eats them both and turns towards Konstantinov to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Konstantinov looks to score with a jab to the body but Tide is just out of range.

Konstantinov tries to circle away but Tide has him pinned against the cage.

Tide tries to score a body lock takedown but Konstantinov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Konstantinov tries to break the clinch but Tide is controlling the position.

Konstantinov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Konstantinov is looking to clinch.
Konstantinov throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Konstantinov darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Konstantinov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tide.
Tide fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Tide shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tide showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Konstantinov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Tide wants to control from the top but Konstantinov keeps moving.
Konstantinov wants to get back to his feet but Tide is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Konstantinov is working an open guard so Tide takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tide closes the distance and clinches.
Tide drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Konstantinov gets the underhooks and prevents it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tide is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Crimson Tide will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Nice takedown defense from Konstantinov. No joy for Tide on that attempt.
Konstantinov shoots in but no luck this time.
Konstantinov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Konstantinov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Konstantinov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Tide manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tide looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Konstantinov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Konstantinov can do anything to dispel that myth.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tide accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Konstantinov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tide can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tide, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
