Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Alvares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Skrillex - Ruffneck . Santiago Alvares has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Santiago Alvares! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Alvares changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alvares tries to score with some ground and pound. Mir controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Alvares scoring with punches from side control. Alvares wants to control but Mir is keeping him busy. Alvares controlling the position from side mount. Alvares working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Alvares lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvares trying to control the action but Mir is working from the bottom. Mir managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Alvares.
Alvares is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mir knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Mir is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Alvares asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Alvares gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alvares wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving. Alvares loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alvares has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mir down to the mat. Mir avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mir finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Alvares shoots in and drives through. Mir sprawls well. Mir gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mir wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mir is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Alvares is keeping busy. Alvares is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mir pulls him back up using the underhooks. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mir decides to pull guard. Alvares with a flurry of punches that miss.

Alvares trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alvares throws a big elbow that misses. Santiago Alvares showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Alvares dives in and grabs Mir's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mir pushes down on Alvares's head and hops out. Mir slaps away a takedown attempt from Alvares, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Alvares. Alvares is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mir sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Mir as Alvares shoots in. Mir rushes Alvares and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Alvares wants a takedown but no success here.

Mir can't fight it off and eventually Alvares manages to take the fight to the floor. Mir looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Alvares throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir can't keep his opponent in guard - Alvares advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Alvares missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Alvares lands strikes from half guard. Alvares wants to pass to mount but Mir is defending the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alvares is trying to work for a kimura but Mir is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir blocking the ground and pound attempt from Alvares. Alvares sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mir defending well though. Alvares throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Alvares content to control rather than advance. Alvares wants to work for an arm triangle but Mir is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvares looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Santiago Alvares is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Alvares performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
