A fine choice. Sparks has chosen Viva Las Vegas by Dead Kennedys as his entrance music. The key to victory for Rex Tremendous has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tremendous throws a sloppy head kick and Sparks moves out of range easily.
Sparks throws a hook but Tremendous avoids it easily.

Sparks clinches up with Tremendous and pushes him back against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tremendous avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Sparks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tremendous swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sparks takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Tremendous throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Sparks's head.

Sparks throws a lazy right hand but Tremendous sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Tremendous lands with a straight right. Sparks didn't see that one coming.
Sparks throws a leg kick but Tremendous checks it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tremendous. Sparks does a little dance to reset his feet.

Tremendous uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sparks has time to react.
Sparks's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Tremendous connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sparks scrambles back to his feet.

Sparks shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tremendous manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sparks lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Bobby Sparks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sparks closes the distance and clinches up with Tremendous, looking for a takedown. Sparks pushes Tremendous against the cage but Tremendous circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Tremendous throws a wild body kick that Sparks sees coming a mile off.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bobby Sparks was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Tremendous clobbers Sparks with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sparks lands with an uppercut that bounces Tremendous off the cage and back into range.
Sparks connects with a good right hand that stumbles Tremendous. Tremendous circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Sparks fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rex Tremendous has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Sparks.

Sparks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tremendous cracks Sparks with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Tremendous swats away the attempt to clinch by Sparks.
Sparks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tremendous circles away quickly and effectively.

Tremendous gets caught flat footed, as Sparks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tremendous pulls Sparks in close to prevent any damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tremendous is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sparks stays in close to Tremendous's body and controls the position.
Sparks wants to control from the top but Tremendous keeps moving.
Sparks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sparks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tremendous has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sparks has managed to get both his arms back between Tremendous's legs - danger averted.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bobby Sparks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rex Tremendous.
